Create a WhatsApp template and submit it to Meta for review.

Trengo saves the template with status PENDING and submits it to Meta in the same request. When Meta refuses the template, the request fails with a 422 and Trengo saves nothing. Meta reviews the template within minutes to 24 hours. Then the status changes to ACCEPTED or DECLINED. To check the status, list the WhatsApp templates.

You cannot change the content of a template after you create it. To change it, delete the template and create a new one. For a media header, first upload the file with Upload a file, and use its id as the header value.

The name of the template at Meta. Lowercase letters, digits and underscores only, for example order_shipped. Meta refuses a name that already exists in the same language for the same WhatsApp Business Account.

channel_id

The ID of the WhatsApp Business channel. Required, also when you send channel_ids.

The language code, for example en, nl, en_US or pt_BR.

UTILITY for a message about an order or an account, MARKETING for promotions, AUTHENTICATION for one-time codes. Meta can change the category during review.

The body text, up to 1024 characters. Required, except for AUTHENTICATION. Use numbered placeholders {{1}}, {{2}} and so on: start at {{1}}, do not skip a number, and do not start or end the text with a placeholder. Formatting: bold, italic, ~~strikethrough~~.

One example value for each placeholder in message, in order: the first item is the example for {{1}}. Meta uses the examples to review the template. Do not use real customer data.

One example for each URL button that ends in {{1}}, in the order of those buttons. The example replaces {{1}}, up to 200 characters.

The header, the footer and the buttons. At most 1 HEADER, 1 FOOTER, 3 QUICK_REPLY buttons, 2 URL buttons and 1 PHONE_NUMBER button. Send the URL and PHONE_NUMBER buttons before the QUICK_REPLY buttons.
